Watergate Bay Surf Life Saving Club is calling out to the local community, bringing the Bay and its people together by offer various types of membership.

With Cornish beaches and beach water sports becoming more and more popular, the need for added awareness is now paramount.

Open for all!

Surf Life Saving Clubs focus a lot of their work around teaching and mentoring children. Watergate Bay is such a fantastic playground for kids, and the sea can help to develop their water skills and knowledge. For the senior members, the club will train and develop your skills and even give you the opportunity to gain highly respected qualifications in the domain for just a small donation to the club. See below for membership details.

When and Where?

The club will be based on the beach at Watergate Bay with key figures in the Bay providing services and facilities. Club meetings will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday evening from April onwards, with the Nippers also being held on a Wednesday to coincide with our weekly social gathering - the Skinner's sponsored club BBQ's. In the winter the club meetings will vary in activity, venue and times in order to work around the season and lack of light!!! We welcome potential new members to the Bay to show you what it's all about.

Who?

The foundations of the club come from the heart of a local and committed life guard, Ben Ridding, who has worked at Watergate Bay for the last 7 years. Ben felt that the introduction of the SLSC would be invaluable to the community's experience on the beach, and also help to increase the beach safety as the club will develop patrols in conjunction with the RNLI. Other committee members include Watergate Bay enthusiast and NARS/RWC/IRB Instructor Vince Timson, Club Manager and NARS Instructor Zoey Cotton, Lifeguard Anton Page, Senior First Aider Tim Puffer, Youth Officer David Wright, Club Secretary Katharine Baker, and from The Watergate Bay Hotel and Extreme Academy we have Treasurer Neil Glover and Liaison Officer Carl Coombs.
